Model Answers: Let’s Ask Keiji

Keiji
  1. Ganguro. This was a fashion trend where people had really darkly tanned skin, bleached hair and strange make up. It was starting to disappear around the time I was born but I think it might be making a comeback.
  2. No, absolutely not! I think people who participate in the ganguro trend look ridiculous.
  3. Hamburger straws. People are going to McDonald’s, putting their hamburgers on top of cups and sticking a straw straight down the middle. After that, they take a photo and upload it to social media.
  4. I have no idea why people are doing this! It doesn’t make any sense! I don’t think this will be popular by next year, let alone in five years’ time.
  5. My mother said “school girl kawaii” was a thing during the 1990s. Girls wore big socks and miniskirts with their school uniforms as street fashion. She said that’s how she and her friends used to dress. I don’t think this is a popular fashion anymore.
  6. I don’t like the new human-sized backpacks I’ve seen online. They are just too big. Why would anyone need a backpack quite so big? How much does one person need to carry around with them each day? I just don’t understand!
